Still Life

Shapes and Colors

These paintings are not so much about still life as they are an effort to use objects as vehicles of appreciation for shapes and colors in relation to one another. They are a way to see forms interacting with forms in comparison and contrast----often to explore a particular color scheme. Sometimes the goal is simply to watch purple and orange play together; more often it's part of my ongoing quest to make comfortable that uncomfortable place, between realism and abstraction.
