THE ART OF BARBARA GEMMELL

Barb Gemmell is originally from North Canton, OH but has made her home in Chester County, PA since the mid 80s.

 

She and her husband, Jim, met at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH and both earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from CCAD. Barb’s primarily focus was on painting, drawing and ceramics.

 

Barb is the proud mother of 7 amazing kids—four of them married to incredible spouses. At the time of this writing she has fourteen wonderful grandchildren—all the special delight of “Grandma”—plus one beloved Boarder Collie named "Georgia".

 

Throughout her more than 30 busy family years, while keeping her hand in her own artistic pursuits (with considerable difficulty at times!), Barb has also taught art to children of all ages. In her teaching she particularly enjoys introducing kids to the many styles and masters of art throughout history. She also loves helping each child to see that everyone can be creative in their own way and the process of guiding them towards unique ways of expressing themselves through art.
